Are you part of a Book Club? I am, and I love it! It is really nice to catch up every few weeks with this nice group of girls that share your same love for books, family and friends, while enjoying a glass of wine (or a few). This book selection in particular, I have to talk about. We chose The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. This book has not only been a best seller for years now (it was published in 2005), but its movie adaptation, starring Brie Larson, was just released. Perfect reasons, perfect timing. And wow, I was OBSESSSSSED with this book! It was so beautifully written and it's a memoir, meaning that everything that's in the book (or at least most of it) actually happened to the author growing up. What?
Anyway, my obsession didn't stop with the last page of the book. I have spent more time than I would like to admit reading articles and watching videos related to Walls and her family's story. I was so fascinated by her and her siblings' tale of resilience, that I couldn't wait any longer to watch the movie. I did last night, and although Larson and Woody Harrelson (as Jeannette's dad, Rex) were great, the rest of the movie didn't pan out as I had imagined it. A little disappointed about that, but it's not the first or last time that the movie doesn't fill the readers' expectations. Regardless, if you are wondering about what book to read next, PLEASE read The Glass Castle. You won't regret it. And if you do read it, please let me know when you're done with it. I can't wait to talk about all the details!
